BikeE RX

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of riding is the RX best used for? The RX is BikeE’s high-performance road bike. If you are serious about riding and you wish to keep pace with your friends on their ride bikes, the RX is for you. BikeE’s innovative drivetrain, lightweight proprietory components and quality wheelset make the RX a HOT BIKE!!!! For reviews on the RX, go to the RX bike page and click reviews.

What makes the RX different from the AT? The RX is designed to be a high-performing BikeE with better a better quality shifting system, better wheels and better frame components. In addition, the RX is available fully-suspended utilizing BikeE’s proprietory in-the-headtube front suspension fork or simply rear suspended using the Cane Creek AD-5.

What is the mid-drive shifting system? BikeE's mid-drive shifting system is similar to the shifting of a conventional bicycle, except the front derailleur is located on a set of chainrings located half-way between the front crank and rear derailleur. The mid-drive allows crisp, accurate shifting, without the long chain other recumbents are required to have.

What is the difference between the RX and FX? The FX is designed to be the ultimate off-road machine. It is a true all-terrain bike. The RX is a true road bike. The bikes are similar in their appearance, but differ in component specifications. The difference in the RX and FX are evident in the drivetrain, wheels, extension tube and seats.

Why should I order the RX with front suspension? The state-of-the-art BikeE front suspension fork will enhance your ride by giving you more control while riding and take away much of the road shock you might experience while riding.

What is a carbon fiber extension tube? The extension tube holds the fork onto the frame and holds the handlebar in place. The cromoly extension tube is silver and the carbon is dark grey. The carbon fiber extension tube is 3/4 lb. less than the cromoly extension tube, which is why it is used on the RX. The carbon extension tube can be upgraded to all models.

How do I adjust the rear suspension? The BikeE rear shock is designed to be preloaded with air. The shock requires a shock pump or other pump that offers pressurizing up to 300 psi. Since the BikeE is designed to be used by riders of all sizes, you will need to experiment with the amount of pressure your shock requires. A good starting point for the air pressure is your weight plus 10%. Adjust the pressure in the shock based on your height, weight, riding style and riding terrain. When you sit on the bike and ride, you do not want more than 1/8" of compression in the rear shock. When riding, you do not the shock bouncing up and down. You want the shock to activate primarily when you hit hazards. What is the difference between the CT and AT? The main difference between the CT frame and all other models is the rear shock. The CT utilizes a patented rear chainstay design that offers a passive suspension design. All other models utilize a shock that provides 2.4" or more of suspension travel.

How do I adjust the front suspension? A good starting point for the air pressure is your weight plus 50%. To adjust the front suspension on the BikeE RX and FX, disconnect the front brake, remove the front wheel and remove the cap from the Schrader valve. Use your BikeE shock pump, or other high pressure pump, to preload the shock with the appropriate amount of air for you and your riding style.
